The HK P30 is a modern police and security pistol that represents a combination of safety, security and modern ergonomic design. This pistol has interchangeable backstrap inserts on the grip frame as well as interchangeable lateral plates allowing shooters to customize the firearm to better fit their grip. All controls are fully ambidextrous and include dual slide releases and magazine release levers. A Picatinny rail molded into the front of the frame makes mounting lights, laser sights, or other accessories easy and convenient. The extractor doubles as a loaded chamber indicator providing a subtle tactile and visual reminder of a loaded chamber.Variants with a conventional double-action/single action trigger have a serrated decocking button located on the rear of the frame. The pistol is designed to be naturally pointable, controllable and accurate and features an open notch rear sight with a luminous sight that is perfect for low light shooting conditions. During a recent (2009-2010) endurance test, a P30 test pistol fired more than 91,000 rounds with no major component failures.
