Geissele Defense Pistol (GDP) 5.56mm 8" Bbl Black Pistol 08-427B is built on the idea that a defensive pistol shouldn't feel like a rifle someone chopped down. Every part of it — gas system, brace, controls — is engineered specifically for this length, not adapted from a longer platform.

The Geissele Defense Pistol runs an 8" cold hammer forged, chrome-lined barrel with a 1:7 twist on Geissele's tapered profile, and the gas system is where the real engineering shows. A custom pistol-length gas tube feeds through an Antistrike Super Compact Gas Block, tuned by Geissele's Phased Array® system with Tri-Port™ metering — the kind of gas tuning that keeps an 8" barrel from feeling snappy or over-gassed, which is usually where shorter pistols fall apart. A GFW bolt carrier group with an M4 bolt assembly and Geissele's Stressproof Bolt handles the reciprocating side of things, built to the same full-auto rating standard as Geissele's rifle-length BCGs.

The dual-telescoping Geissele GDP brace opens with one motion — pull to the rear, and it locks into either of two solid positions without any extra steps. A 7" MK16 M-LOK handguard in black keeps the front end tight, and the SSA X® Wide Body Lightning Bow trigger delivers the same crisp break found across the rest of the Super Duty family.
