Supplied without rifling or finished threads, the twist rate is selected when the barrel is finished — for most 6.5mm builds a twist in the 1:8.5 to 1:9 range is recommended to stabilize both lighter 120–130 grain bullets and heavier 140–147 grain long‑range projectiles.
