As with any purchase, you the buyer really have to consider “what the need is” that your purchase is intended to satisfy if you’re to be truly content with the product. I can’t tell you if an Elan Specter DR is right for you but I can tell you why it’s absolutely perfect for me. In no particular order, I have a 16” barreled upper and I only shoot m855 so the cx5395 bdc reticle matches my setup perfectly and gives me aiming points out to 600 meters. I get a true 1x with day light visible red dot, I get fixed 4x with a simple throw lever. It’s shorter than an LPVO and has an integrated mount. Best of all is I can actually see…I’m near-sighted. I have astigmatism. ACOGs don’t work for me. Traditional red-dots (I have experience with the following) MRO HD, T1, and even HWS like the XPS2 look out of focus, undefined blooms instead of dots. Fortunately for me, the Elcan looks sharp and crisp affording me a solution to use my rifle for my intended purpose: to fight 2 legged monsters inside a house or outside, at night, in low light, or in extra sunny conditions, up close or at extended ranges, all in a compact bomb proof package with my failing eyes. Now, with quality training and a whole lot of practice I have a chance to make good on the promises I’ve made. Regards, CY
