So I was looking for a versatile hunting scope and I had a wish list of features and this one checks all the boxes. I wanted a 4-5 x power range vs the 3x. With only 3x zoom range I was always compromising either not enough low end field of view or higher end precision. So with this being 3-15 it covers the ranges I needed. I also wanted a 1” tube vs a 30mm because I wanted to keep weight to around 20 oz’s. I don’t need massive vertical adjustment OR the added weight of the larger tube. I wanted parallax adjustment for precision at longer ranges. I require accurate resettable turret travel and precise clicks which you don’t get with cheap scopes. I really like the locking turrets and the resettable zero stop. These I require on strictly long range scopes but great to have on a hunting scope also. I prefer a fast focusing eye piece and this scope has that also. Of coarse the build quality is superb as well. All adjustments smooth but not loose. All of these features are great but these next two really impressed me, the glass and the reticle. When I first looked through it I was stunned at the clarity, the reticle layout and something I’m just beginning to appreciate in a scope, the eyebox. We’re all familiar with a scope that you have to have your eye centered perfectly and eye relief in a narrow range to see clearly without the blackout edges. It’s not acceptable especially in a hunting scope. Not so with this one! I have Leupold, Bushnell, Nikon, Tract, Arken, Athlon and Hawke scopes and none of them are anywhere near this user friendly. Now to the reticle. I got the E3 illuminated one. Just the center lights up so it draws your eye onto target quickly without being so bright it can cause glare and actually made it harder to pick up your target. Multiple intensity levels so you can dial it in. The BDC hash lines worried me a little because in other scopes they can seem crowded and close together. Keep in mind I bought this scope online, sight unseen which can be difficult to know if you will like it and if it matches the illustrations. This one really impresses me for these reasons. The crosshairs start boldly on the edges and taper down to a thinner line towards the center. I’ve never seen this before and was startled at how it guides the eye to center. The yardage lines are not clustered around the center as I feared they might be. They are very distinguishable as are the 10 mph windage dots. So this is absolutely the best hunting reticle I’ve ever seen. Some can be very busy like for shooting precision long range which can be very distracting and slow onto target for hunting. So in summary I think this is as near perfect blend of features I can use from close in dark woods deer to long range coyotes and prairie dogs. Time to give some older scopes to the grandsons. They’ll love the price if nothing else LOL
